Smart Parts is proud to announce that on February 23, 2008, Konstantin Federov signed player contracts to formally join the Philadelphia Americans. Federov has been practicing with Philly and will be playing for the NXL franchised team beginning at the PSP Phoenix Open. After 5 years of playing for the Russian Legion, Federov approached Philly's team owner, Adam Gardner about bringing his experience and skills to the Americans.
Originally from a small town outside of Moscow, Russian born Federov is in his final year of university study in Moscow for a degree in Economic and Business Law. When he's not on the field competing or practicing, Federov enjoys a variety of sports including tennis, basketball, volleyball, soccer and riding his Suzuki GSXR-750 motorcycle.
Team owner Adam Gardner said, "We're excited to have Federov join us on Philly as he's a real power house and his good natured personality has helped him develop a strong fan base. He is a universal player, although he's primarily in the front, Federov adapts quickly when needed in other positions. We're very excited about the flexibility that he brings to the team. We brought home the NXL championship in the league's first two years and feel confident that we're building the right team for a powerful 2008 season."
For Federov who has already achieved an NXL championship while shooting a Shocker NXT, the move to Smart Parts' flagship team seems natural. "This is the best place for me," says Federov, "I feel great about it and have a lot of confidence in the team. I already love the equipment and can't wait to get started."
