Paintball World TV News show, which airs on the Men’s Outdoor and Recreation Channel (MOR), received great ratings in a recent study.  These numbers were attained through a third party data collector for TV, and were compiled by an average sampling of 28,000 households on a satellite network of 13 million households from 2/12/2007-2/18/2007.

They found that just on that satellite network (only 13 million households) the average number of "unique channel visits" was 322,720 households watching MOR during the Paintball World TV News time slot(s).

They then state that overall on the MOR viewing universe (all carriage agreements: Direct, Dish, Time Warner, AT&T, Brighthouse, Insight, and Comcast) that there was an average of 819,212 households per hour watching MOR during the Paintball World TV News time slot(s) (at approximately 3 viewers per household); therefore,  that is over 2 million viewers.

That was the average households per hour from 4-10 PM EST (primetime) per hour. That study represents both their current time slot airings, their main time slot is 9 PM EST Saturday and their 2nd airing is 4 PM  EST Wednesday.

Also, the viewers were watching for an average of 30 minutes without changing the channel. This means they watched the commercials which is a great thing for advertisers.

Phil and Norie Kelly, Executive Producers and Co-Hosts for Paintball World TV News had this to say,
"We were extremely pleased with the recent study and ratings conducted for our network.  We were quite surprised by the numbers, but time slot is everything in TV, and we were lucky to get a great one during primetime Saturday night 9 PM EST!" explained Norie Kelly.

"Yes, just as in any business, TV is location, location, location," added Phil Kelly. "The time slot is important, but equally important is the channel. MOR is, in our opinion, the best and perfect place for paintball on TV.  To be successful, a paintball TV show has to be entertaining, not only to players, but non players. It also has to have a broad sense of appeal to attract non players to watch, and more importantly, to come out and play paintball.  On MOR, the majority of viewers are outdoor people and into the shooting sports.  Paint ball involves both shooting, and the outdoors, so it’s a natural fit."

"Yes," added  Norie, "and one of the biggest reasons for our show is to expose new people to the sport of paintball in a family type of show. The show portrays all types of paintball in a positive manner that encourages non players to come  out and try the sport! That’s why we often show ourselves playing so people will see its great for the whole family."

"We really have to thank all our viewers and fans, I mean...it's really humbling to think that so many people are watching our show.  It is a lot of work, travel and time, but the fans make it all worthwhile. We’d like to thank them for all their great emails too," said Phil.

"We'd also like to thank all of our sponsors. Companies like JT Sports, Stryker,  Sup Air, WGP, Crossfire Tanks, Ultimate Barrels, View Loader, Brass Eagle, Greg Hasting's Tournament Paintball Max'd,  Paintball Sports, Paintball News, MOR and all the rest," added PJ Kelly, host of the "Young Gun" segment of the show, and America's most famous young player. "Without their support we could not air the show."

"The show is now ending it's first year on TV, and we thank everyone that helped make it a success. It was a great year, and we feel that hopefully we'll soon be announcing another year on TV to follow. It really is all up to our sponsors now and whether they choose to back the show again, and whether other companies will step up and help us to promote the sport of paintball  on TV," added Phil.

"Yes, the channel has offered us a contract to air our show for another year, which is great!  All that we need is the support from the paintball industry. We look forward to bringing you another year of paintball on TV, so please email our sponsors and let them know that the money that they are spending on airtime and production costs are worth it and buy their great products!" commented Norie.

"Also email other paintball companies and let them know that they should sponsor the show," added PJ. "We'd love to bring you another year of Paintball World TV News!"
