Thunderstruck Scenario Paintball Team is planning a showdown in the scenario paintball world against the evil forces...of cancer. Instead of the playing field, though, players are putting on their poker faces for a Texas Hold 'em Tournament and hosting a Hospitality Suite to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
"Cancer is something that has touched everyone you know in one way or another and we want to do our part to help eradicate it and support the survivors of this dreaded disease," said Barrie 'Nudi' Reid.
The Thunderstruck T-Rev Hospitality Suite and Texas Hold 'em tournament will kick off Friday, April 11 from 7 p.m. to midnight at Viper Paintball in Mt. Pleasant, Texas just prior to Kerry 'Viper’ Rosenberry's scenario paintball game: Texas Revolution, which has been held annually since 1996.
"If you aren't feeling lucky enough to play a few hands, you can play our Xbox 360, eat at our hot and cold buffet, or just hang out with friends. But no one is a 'loser' when you're playing poker for such a good cause," said Reid.
Cost for the hospitality suite, which includes food and drinks is $25. To get in on the cards is $20 or patrons can enjoy both for $40. Hundreds of dollars are up for grabs in hourly door prizes, chance drawings and the poker tournament itself. Participants must be 21 years old and have a valid ID for entry to the Hospitality Suite. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society by way of Team Titus…Titus Regional Medical Center's ACS Relay for Life team.
"The response has been so great, that we might have to cap the number of poker players," added Reid, "as we want to make sure we can accommodate them all."
Sponsors for this event include Thunderstruck Scenario Paintball Team, Viper Paintball, Smart Parts, Archon Paintball, Grainger, FJW, Dixie Paper Co., Lowes, The Pirate's Cove, Titus Regional Medical Center, Georgia-Pacific, Smokin' Paintball, Mardi Gras Cajun Restaurant and 68Caliber.com.
