The test setup | Redz is a recent competitor in the 'hard' goods market, starting with their line of barrels and drops and ASA's in 2005. Their latest entry into the hard goods market is the Grenade ASA. ASA's have been getting more attention lately as a place for players to express themselves, and the Grenade is Redz' contribution for those who like to make an explosive impression.
The Grenade is manufactured out of T6061 aircraft grade aluminum, and hard anodized to maximize durability. It's modeled on the 'pineapple' grenade used by the U.S. Military. The 'spoon' of the grenade is actually the rail that attaches the ASA to your marker, and it includes a non-functional pull pin to add that extra bit of authenticity. There is no on/off feature to the Grenade ASA, but it does completely de-gas your marker as you un-screw your air system. It also comes complete with a macroline fitting installed, avoiding the extra cost of having to buy one.
We installed the Grenade on an Alias Intimidator, which was only lightly modified with a Centerflag Products inline regulator. Installation took around 30 minutes, mainly due to the Intimidator's grip frame making it a touchy affair to tighten the set screw anchoring the rail to the body of the ASA. Once installed, the rail and ASA were locked together and didn't loosen up over the course of testing.
For this review, we used a Guerrilla Air Myth regulator on a 68/4500 bottle. The Myth is a tiny, short regulator and it's often difficult to find an ASA that works with it. Often the regulator's pressure guage or fill nipple hits either the rail or back of the marker's grip frame, which hinders screwing the regulator into the ASA fully. The Grenade is slightly larger and drops down slightly more than most ASA setups, making using the Myth easily feasible.

Redz Grenade ASA with Myth Regulator | As advertised, the marker would completely de-gas once the regulator was screwed out enough, yet there's enough threads still in the ASA to allow a player to unscrew the bottle from the ASA to safely fill the airsystem without having to worry about the airsystem coming out of the ASA and forcing the player to juggle the marker and airsystem. While some may question the lack of an on/off on an ASA, we see it as less things to break, therefore more time on field.
During the course of testing, the marker was used in a local 3-man tournament, at a scenario game and during a team practice. During the course of testing, no leaks were noted, nor did we note any loosening of the components of the ASA on the marker or with each other. While aesthetics are purely subjective, everyone who saw the ASA on the Alias liked it, with the compliment most often given to it was "Sick!".
In addition to being stylish, the Redz Grenade ASA is reasonably priced when compared to other high-end ASA/rail setups. The MSRP on Redz' website is $39.95, and buying online at Redz' website can get a player an additional discount. The Redz Grenade ASA is available in black and green.
