The Boost Customs 600mAh battery pack

What comes in the kit
Boost Customs has done it again, creating a performance battery pack for the VLocity loader.  One of the most common complaints about the VL Vlocity is that it's known to be very hard on batteries, consuming them rapidly.

The boost pack comes bundled with several items out of the box; the boost pack itself, the solderless adapter, charger, instructions for charger and the battery pack, and shrink wrap.

To begin the installation of the battery pack, you must disassemble your Vlocity until you have both sets of shells, then you must dremel/file the sides of the battery compartment and the tabs on the back of the battery compartment to allow the pack to fit freely. Remember to stop and check as you dremel so you don't remove too much material.

Next step is to cut the 2 9v connectors off of the Vlocity. Cut as close to the connector as possible to allow plenty of extra wire if needed. Next step is to cut the 9v connector off the boost pack. Then using the solderless adapter, connect the white with white, and red with red. At first I did run into trouble, but with a quick email to Boost, everything was sorted out promptly and he was able to take time to walk me through every step.

Now just assemble the hopper like normal, and plug the battery pack in. The first charge should be around 4 hours. At first glance, I didn’t notice an increase in speed with the pack, but I did notice my battery life GREATLY improved.

Charging the Boost Pack
Before the pack I was averaging around 1.5 cases before my batteries needed replacing, I managed to get 6 cases off a charge with the Boost pack. As far as weight goes, I didn't notice a difference between the Boost pack and the 2 9v's I used before.

With an MSRP of $79.99, I find this pack to pay for itself extremely fast, especially with the cost of batteries today. Also, if you must, you can send your hopper into Boost Customs and have an external charge port installed for an extra fee.  Boost also offers a 750 mAh pack which costs $20 more.  For more information, check out www.boostcustom.com
