Richard B. Riddick | Monticello, Florida-based Blackwater Paintball turned into a whole new universe for the LCP Scenarios presentation of "Furian's Revenge" in January. Blackwater Paintball's Charles Kincaid and Jeremy Roland wanted to get a start on the 2008 season, and recreating the universe created in "Pitch Black" and "Chronicles of Riddick" seemed like a good way for them to do it.
LCP Game Coordinator Joe "The Hero" Hamilton had his hands full with this game, since he wasn't especially familiar with the "Pitch Black" universe. Generals for this game were the normally happy Andy "Backdoor" Graham playing the generally unhappy and overly homicidal Richard B. Riddick. His X.O. Was Craig Grindle of Team Doomtroopers. Playing Lord Marshal was Rocky Rodenbaugh of Xtreme Behavior, and his X.O. Was Brad Adams. Aside from Graham's wiry build as compared to Vin Diesel's portrayal of Riddick, the people picked to play the characters in this game were spot on. Graham in particular got into character as the brooding, menacing Riddick.
Blackwater's 60 playable acres became Helion Prime for this game, which was under siege by Lord Marshal's Necromongers. The fate of the entire system rested on upon Riddick, who isn't a good guy at all, just a different kind of evil to counter the pseudo-religious Necromongers who destroy worlds on their pilgrimage to "Underverse", where the dead come back to life and live forever.
The player briefing started with a few words from LCP's Billy Smith, who was rolling out his new line-up of ProCaps paint at this game. He made sure to tell everyone that they needed to let him know of any problems or concerns with the paint so he could make the proper adjustments for future games. Field Owners Charles Kincaid and Jeremy Roland introduced the Generals for this game, while Billy Smith of LCP Scenarios ran through the special rules for this game. Since there weren't any tanks at this game, LAW Rocketeers were given specific rules for using LAW rockets in an anti-personnel capacity.

Billy laying down the LAW(s) | Game on was at noon, and at 12:13, one of Riddick's troopers ran into Lord Marshal's base and announced base blown, but unfortunately for the Furian, he was shot in the back right as he blew the base, and the referees declared the base blow an unsuccessful attempt. Once everyone caught their breath, mission teams started rolling out into the field to complete tasks given by their Generals including recovering Riddick's trademark knives and Lord Marshal's Conquest Icon, a crystal which had been hidden in Battle Square.
As the day wore on, the weather deteriorated into uncharacteristic cold and rain, which worsened by the time players approached Billy and LCP Game Coordinator Joe about suspending play. Since the weather was rapidly deteriorating and players requested the suspension, it was decided to suspend play until dinner break and then give night play a try. At around 4 PM the rain had let up enough for players to try and resume play, but it quickly lapsed back into cold and rainy, and play was suspended at the players' request again for safety reasons.
On Sunday morning, the rain had gone, but the temperature was a bone chilling 26 degrees. The cold start quickly warmed up into the 50's. Game Coordinator Hamilton reworked the missions during the down time so that the storyline wouldn't be hugely affected, and despite the cold affecting loaders, markers and masks, the players were out on the field, making up for lost time on missions.
The morning started with a downed pilot mission, with New Mecca Control trying to guide a hapless pilot along with The Elemental Aereon on board through a hornet's nest of Necromonger fighters and anti-aircraft fire. Riddick monitored the progress of Whisky 99 as he tried to deliver Aereon to her house for a meeting with Riddick and to his horror he heard in real time as the shuttle was shot down over the Armory.
Fortunately for all involved, Air Elementals glide exceptionally well, so Aereon was able to safely land after the destruction of her shuttle and sneak off to her house, leaving the pilot to fight off a Necromonger platoon on his own. The result was pre-ordained, and an arrogant Necromonger gleefully told New Mecca Control of the pilot's demise.
Because of the game suspension on Saturday, LCP Scenarios and Blackwater Paintball extended play to 2 PM instead of the planned 12 noon. At 12:30, players started coming off field to paint up and air up to prepare for the final battle. At 1PM the final battle started at Battle Square. Flags were placed on a rope that could be lifted to show possession of the Battle Square as the fight went on around it as Riddick's forces fought with the Necromongers to have possession of Battle Square at 2PM. At the start of the final battle, the Necromongers took first possession, but the soldier was quickly eliminated and the fight was on, with possession of the Square swapping hands several times during the final battle. At the end of the game, Lord Marshal's side had possession of the base and won the final battle.
Players came off-field to start cleaning up their camping areas and get ready to hear who'd won the game and participate in the raffle. In due course the Generals came up to give their awards to players who'd contributed to their General's success.
