Firebug and Georgia
For hundreds of years, fables, stories and folklore tales have circled the world.  Nocer Productions has come up with a unique way to bring Fairy Tales from The Brothers Grimm to life, in paintball fashion.   AWOL Paintball in Pavo, Georgia was the site for this game.  Field Owner Will Mansberger has owned and operated AWOL  for about 4 years, and is set up with  50 playable acres currently,  with room to expand.  AWOL  just added an X-ball field, and more buildings to the scenario field

As our story opens, The Grimm Brothers (General Scott Good and his XO Bill "Firebug" Meister) are on their way to Karlstadt to rid the town of a pesky witch.  Legend tells that the witch haunts the Mill House, and The Grimm Brothers are more than willing to help this legend along and make a profit from it.

The French  (General Joe "Georgia" Hamilton along with his XO Michael Tolnay),  knowing the Grimm Brothers are trying to scam the town of Karlstadt out of their meager funds, go to the town to make sure the scammers are exposed.

With The Grimm Brothers base located behind a church and eerie looking cemetery and The French Base tucked away into the woods where the rustle of trees isn't always from the wind, both teams set out on the journey of Grimm Tales with a lot of surprises along the way.

Missions of holding Karlstadt, The Mill House, finding the Shield of Prince Richard the Charming, and a suit of armor made the first hour of game time go rather quickly.

By 1:00 p.m. The Grimm Brothers had their first Base Blow with a General elimination; the tides seemed to be leaning towards the Brothers.  The French were still out to try to find items to help blow the lid off the ghostly scams that The Grimm Brothers are out selling to the town of Karlstadt.

As the afternoon wore on, both sides got Base Blows with General Eliminations, several props were found, and Little Red Riding Hood came amiss.  I myself saw 'her' skipping by on her way to pick mushrooms right before I ran into The Trapper at The Swamp Shack.  Scantily clad in a maidens dress with locks of silver streaked black hair The Trapper was skillfully played by Alan "Shadowman" Smith.  The French were not impressed with her (I use the word 'her' loosely) feminine ways and The Trapper was quickly shot for her troubles.   A couple of fine gentlemen from the Grimm Brothers team came to quickly rescue The Trapper, and Alan’s giggles and batting of her lashes must have worked because as she was escorted off into the woods, I heard one player remark that The Trapper had fine child bearing hips!

All the while the two teams were meeting with The Trapper, 2 children from Marbaden by the name of Hansel and Gretel were out looking for Little Red Riding Hood and became lost in the woods.  The French won that mission by going to the Gingerbread house and holding it.  There is also an appearance from Grandmother Toad.  Her kisses show the way out of the forest for lost players.

As nighttime was quickly approaching, both teams regrouped  for dinner battle to try and get the upper hand on the other side.  The battle took place outside of the Gingerbread House, and into the dense surrounding woods.  The Grimm Brothers team stood their ground until the last seconds when Brian "Sheets" White took a run and dove into the Gingerbread House.

During Dinner break, AWOL Paintball offered BBQ Beef sandwiches and hotdogs, chips, cookies and an array of different drinks for very reasonable prices.  After eating, players re-chronographed their markers to the NOCER-mandated 250 fps for night play.

After dinner break was over, the thick blanket of night had come to rest over Grimm Tales, and the night took on a chilly eeriness.  Another girl child has been abducted from the town, by a posed horse and it was up to both sides to follow the horses trail.  With the coming of night, all things wicked and strange came out to play.  Moving trees and a flying giant wolf were on the attack.  Many men tried and failed to capture the giant wolf, but the wolf was victorious in eluding the men who wished to catch and hold the magical creature.  The normally un-intimidating Andy Graham let his dark side out to play the Flying Giant Wolf.

Before game was called for the night, The French base was blown a couple times with General eliminations for both.  An unusual creature called a Firefly was seen near Marbaden.  The Firefly glowed in the dark and it was The Grimm Brothers team who was finally able to capture the Firefly for future study.   Bringing The Brothers score 2200 over The French 1335 by the time the men took a break for the night.

Game on at 9AM brought out the Gingerbread man.  Both sides were sent to catch this demon before he could get away.  The Gingerbread man was played by Alan "Shadowman" Smith and the immortal words “Run, run as fast as you can, you can’t catch me I’m the gingerbread man” were said as he sprinted off to the woods with some players trailing behind. Not many pictures were taken at this time, for the photographer was actually on the ground laughing as she watched players run around like madmen trying to catch their demon.  It took each side some time, but the demon they call the Gingerbread man was finally caught by The French players who came with their running shoes on!

Early on in the morning, Michael Tolnay stepped in to cover as General for Joe "Georgia" Hamilton, who was off field for a bit and shot the Grimm Brothers General for a General elimination.

Wandering the woods I came upon Angelica (played by Andy Graham of Nocer Productions) in her sweet maiden smock with hair the color of chestnuts. As I approached her, a band of wild Frenchmen came out of the woods and whisked her away from her swamp shack home. I tried to follow, but could not keep up and getting caught in a crossfire of paint, for The Grimm Brothers were trying hard to intercept Angelica. A short while later the same men were seen at the Mill House, but alas, Angelica was never seen again!

On the lookout
For final battle, each team was to try to take possession of the Enchanted Tower.  The Thoringian Queen was there holding court, and they had to stop her before the end of the blood moon.  Whoever takes possession of the Enchanted Tower has to break The Thoringian Queen’s magic mirror.   Even though The French team held The Brother’s off for most of the battle, The Grimm Brother's team broke The Queen's mirror, which effectively gave both teams the win for the final battle.

This was the first installment in the Grimm Tales series, there is much more spookiness to come!

At the end of the game the final scores were Grimm Brothers 2910 and French 2215.  The game was a close one all the way through, with the Brothers Grimm finally pulling away during the morning missions.    With that, the Generals came forward to hand out their awards to deserving players:
