The Lovely NOCER Girls listening in during the player briefing
|
With the end of summer nearing, and the resulting cooler weather, paintball comes alive in Florida again. On the weekend of September 16th and 17th, NOCER Productions started celebrating a little early, with their game "Super Trooperz". "Super Trooperz" is based on the rowdy comedy "Super Troopers". The game was held at Old River Paintball in Ocklawaha, Florida. Old River Paintball is one of the oldest and most respected fields in Florida, and their 40 playable acres see plenty of action with scenario games and weekend walk-on play throughout the year.
In "Super Trooperz", Team Posse's Craig Grindle for the State Troopers faced off against Harold "Pops" Speich playing for the Ocklawaha City Police. This game was unique in that several high profile Florida and Georgia teams were in attendance, and placing powerhouse teams like Black Berets, Hardball, Combat Assault Team, XGST, Anger Management and Ghost Core to keep the game fair was a difficult task, but NOCER Productions’ Andy and Kristie Graham and head referee Allan "Shadowman" Smith made their best effort to keep the teams evenly matched. Charlene the field owner changed up the field a bit too, moving the base for the City Police so that if one could run the gauntlet fast enough, quick and easy access for the opposing teams base could be had quickly. In past games, the second base was located deep in the palmettos at the back of the property.
During the pre-game briefing, Andy stepped up and with assistance from the lovely NOCER Girls Crystal and Brittany gave away a RAP 4 tactical vest to a lucky player. The idea behind this is simple: Give away the vest before the game, and the winner can use it during the course of the game instead of having to wait until the next game. Allan "Shadowman" Smith stepped up next, giving the rules particular to this game, and noting the special rules that applied to the 3 tanks that were in attendance at this event. Everyone in attendance took note of the video camera operator recording, and Andy was proud to announce that Phil and Norrie from Paintball World News was on hand to record this event for a future show on the Men's Channel. Vengeance Paintball Distributors was also on hand, selling Gen-X Global scenario gear at event special prices. A combination of ProCaps Midnight and Diablo Nightmare served as the event paint.
Game on at high noon brought an instant firefight on the netting right next to the staging area as players from both sides tried to take the quick and easy route to the opposing base to get an early base blow and General elimination. The State Troopers scored first, with a group of three players falling through the cracks to take down the City Police’s base after a heavy firefight, which led to the General stepping out to take matters into his own hands, only to be shot out. During the course of the game, the Ocklawaha City Police returned the favor to the State Troopers several times as both teams went back and forth on base blows and General eliminations.

As the day wore on, there was an ongoing firefight near the dogleg in the field that would give easy access for either team to the opposing team’s base, and a majority of the players on hand stayed in this area and the constant action that it provided. Other players took advantage of the distraction caused by the firefight, running and completing missions that included patrolling for speeders, playing the 'cat game' (using the word MEOW in a sentence 10 times while in conversation) and arresting, interrogating and ‘delousing’ (with silly string) Trooper Farva, all part of the storyline inspired by the movie.
The dinner battle prior to the dinner break started at 5:20 and ran until 6:00. The dinner battle was for a large stash of drugs that the local drug dealer had to service his customers. Johnny Chimpo had been seen in the area, and everyone wanted to get his or her hands on his stash. The City Police managed to keep their hands on Chimpo’s stash, despite a strong effort by the State Troopers.
Dinner break ran from 6PM to 8PM, giving players plenty of time to eat, rehydrate and get their markers chronographed down to the NOCER-Mandated 250 fps for night play. NOCER Productions hard work in making sure the teams were fair were paying off, with the game a virtual tie with the State Troopers having scored 1285 points to the Ocklawaha City Police’s 1265 points.
Night play included missions like busting a Rave at the local airport, blowing up the mayor's house, and busting a keg party and keeping the confiscated keg as a bonus for all the hard work involved. Night play ended at 11:30 PM, and players retired to get some sleep for the next day's play. The teams kept up with each other during the course of night play, completing missions with a vengeance. The scores at the end of night play were still remarkably close, with the State Troopers holding a small lead over the Ocklawaha City Police. The Troopers had 2205 points to the City Police’s 2085 points.
As the night ended and morning started to arrive, the food vendor on site for this game started cooking up breakfast for hungry players as they re-chronographed their markers back up to 280 feet per second and got ready to head back out onto the field. The ongoing firefight started fresh for the day, giving players off-field entertainment to watch as they aired up, painted up and got themselves back onto the field. Mission crews were busy as well, running missions for their respective teams and continuing to pile up the points.
At 12:20, all players were recalled to their respective bases while the Generals got the instructions for final battle. Johnny Chimpo the big time drug dealer was in town, trying to figure out why he’s been having so much trouble taking care of business in Ocklawaha. The City Police were charged with defending Chimpo (represented by an inflatable monkey hanging from a tree) from the State Troopers, who were charged with apprehending the simian offender before he corrupted any more of the sleepy town of Ocklawaha with more of his product. The battle raged on until 1:00 PM, when the horn sounded, ending the game. The City Police were able to take advantage of their heavily fortified position and hold on to Chimpo.

As players streamed off the field, game coordinator Kristie 'Mama' Graham holed up in the command tent to figure up the scores and decide the winner. Meanwhile Andy and Allan got together the prize package donated by NOCER Sponsors Gen-X Global, Jet City Specialties, 68Caliber.Com, Flurry Industries, Vengeance Paintball Distributors, RAP 4, American Paintball Supply, COPS 911, Murder, Inc. Paintball, SPO Gear, Spectre Camoflage Designs, and BPP. Once everything was in order, Andy stepped up and asked if anyone cared about the score. As usual at NOCER Games, nobody cared what the score was. Andy did make sure to tell everyone that this was the closest game to date for NOCER Productions, with only 45 points separating the two teams. The State Troopers were able to win the day and secure their position in Ocklawaha, scoring 3140 points to the City Police’s 3095 points. The Generals for this game then stepped up to recognize the players and refs who deserved awards.
